Adding a session to your schedule in Sched does not guarantee you a spot in the room. Most sessions are first come, first served, there is no waitlist. On Sched you can add multiple sessions to your schedule that are at the same time. A session that is "POPULAR!" is on many attendee schedules and could be full. If a session requires pre-registration it will indicate this in the description and will provide details for how to pre-register.

Every teacher has a super power, do you know what yours is? Through collaboration with an amazing staff and not being afraid to take risks I learned my power: The power of student engagement. During this session I will walk you through many ways that foster student engagement in the classroom, ranging from day-to-day lessons to labs and centres. Building a culture of lifelong learners who are advocates for their learning with a specific focus on a ‘thinking out loud’ model that works in both a Jr High and High School setting. We will look at ways to build students up, help them believe in themselves and leave your classroom saying “I feel like I can accomplish anything.” You will also walk away with access of to all my teaching materials (Science 7/9, Science 10 (regular and IB), Science 15 (ELL) and Chemistry 20). If there is time, we will look at some common struggles of today’s classroom including but not limited to: the large range of abilities, minimal parental support and struggling learners. Through small changes in how we plan our lessons can make a world of difference.
