Adding a session to your schedule in Sched does not guarantee you a spot in the room. Most sessions are first come, first served, there is no waitlist. On Sched you can add multiple sessions to your schedule that are at the same time. A session that is "POPULAR!" is on many attendee schedules and could be full. If a session requires pre-registration it will indicate this in the description and will provide details for how to pre-register.

This session will explore the role of outreach schools within a school division, based upon my own experience as an outreach educator and administrator. We will examine the factors that drive outreach enrollment, as well as explore the appropriateness of outreach placements: the students for whom outreach is right, and the students for whom outreach is wrong. Drawing upon the example of my own school, I will discuss one delivery model for outreach education, as well as it's strengths, weaknesses, and broader application to small rural schools. A significant focus of the presentation will be the importance of trauma informed pedagogy, a strengths based approach to program planning, and the fostering of resiliency. Discussion and sharing of personal and professional experiences will be an important part of our arrival at a starting point upon which to build best practices based upon the research and the realities of our own community contexts. This session is suitable for administrators and teachers working with students for whom anxiety, acting out, and poor academic performance are ongoing issues.
