The blue jean making industry had a tremendous impact on the history and economy of Alberta and Canada. This session features the Great Western Garment (GWG) factory worker’s narratives, an assembly line simulation and songs. It will help students understand industrialization, immigrant women’s lives and various aspects of our modern economy. Lessons identify concepts and learning outcomes for grades 4, 5 and 7 Social Studies, English language arts, music and math.
